I had the pleasure of interviewing NOOC of
Siege 2: Planes of Saridor
My questions are in
and his answers are in
Q: What is the Siege2 modification all about?
A: It's a sequel to a Heretic 2 mod entitled 'siege' that struck me as a great concept that needed more content.
The basis behind the game is an attacking team versus a defending team in a fantasy medieval world, whether it be
sieging a castle to rescue a princess or defending a wounded dragon from having its heart taken by the enemy. The two
teams are not the same like you may be used to from TFC etc, one team is evil, the other is good, and the playable
classes reflect this with their own unique abilities, weapons and spells.
Q: How are you coming along in development?
A: Very well, we have a full, dedicated team that shares a similar vision, to make a great conversion to HL2 that will
catpure a players mind through atmospheric indulgence. Each member of the team knows their job and enjoys it, at the rate
we're proceeding we should have our first playable beta within a couple of months of SDK release.
Q: What do you think sets you apart from other HL2 mods?
A: Firstly, its a different genre from most, leaving behind guns all together and picking up the trusty sword and magic.
In addition our teams are very different from each other which makes for some very interesting combat and many hours of gameplay
before you even know everything that is possible. We have talked, as a team, many times on the vast possibilities with the features,
spells and abilities we are adding, this isnt a game you will get bored with quickly.
What feature of your mod are you most excited about?
A: I don't believe there is one part of the game im NOT excited about, but i guess, most of all, i cannot wait to
watch other players and see what they come up as far as combing skills and spells to get to their destination. Watching
our dream spawn into reality would indeed make all the effort well worth it.
Q:How long after the SDK's release do you think your mod will be out?
A: That is very hard to say seeing as we don't know the full details about the SDK, but from information we have gathered
I would expect alpha playtesting within 3, 2, perhaps even 1 months after SDK release with a first public beta release definately
within a 6 month period.
Thanks for your time and good luck with your mod.
